Fantastic Fall! Leaves are changing, the air is cooling and 2015 will be here before we know it. Before that happens, consider all you’ve accomplished this year. Take a few minutes to celebrate your accomplishments and Fall in Love with You!
It’s been a wonderful year at Ostomy Secrets. In March we launched our webinar series with inspire.com called “Putting the Pieces Together after Ostomy Surgery.” Several hundred people joined the first webinar to listen as Cricket and I took a stroll down Memory Lane … from the feelings immediately following surgery to what it’s like having an ostomy 20 years later. We recalled those days after surgery and recounted our fears, concerns, triumphs, oh, and accidents! We talked about this unique brother/sisterhood that people who have been through ostomy surgery share.
We also discussed some great tips that we have learned along the way. Read the Tips Section for one of our favorites!
In the second webinar, we focused more on the emotional aspects of having an ostomy -- how surgery affects work, family, intimacy, sports, travel, etc. We covered many scenarios and how to best manage them. Joining us was a man who recently underwent urostomy surgery. Having his perspective was refreshing and insightful.
Through the webinar, Cricket and I caught a fresh glimpse of how far we have come in this ostomy journey. It reminded us that life really IS good. No matter how many years pass since surgery, no matter how well we adjust and move on, it’s important to remain grateful for the valuable lessons we learned from going through the “bad stuff”. This webinar reminded me of the gift of life.
Click here and listen to our webinar series. As always, we are here to help and support you. Thank you for your continued interest in and support of Ostomy Secrets.
Have a lovely fall and don’t forget to treat yourself to something fun in this wonderful season!
p.s. When it comes to experimenting with ostomy appliances, most of us probably say, “no thanks.” Why try to fix something that isn’t broken? Well, maybe it’s time to reconsider. We’re developing a “product spotlight” to start in the next issue where we’ll ask an Ostomy Secrets team member to review a product they use. Stay tuned; you might learn something that will make life with an ostomy even easier!
