2015 4/20: From Our Founder
Another spring season has rolled around! Beauty is everywhere as flowers and trees bloom, and there’s a feeling in the air that makes me want to get outside. After such a long and cold New Jersey winter, I want to breathe in the fresh air, listen to the birds chirp and start some new adventures.

Ostomysecrets wants to introduce you to our friend, Rebecca Zamolo. After eight years of suffering with Ulcerative Colitis, she decided to have ostomy surgery. Just months after her surgery, she completed the Rock’n’Roll half-marathon in Las Vegas. Rebecca is actively promoting awareness of inflammatory bowel diseases and life with an ostomy.

February 10, 2015, there was a moving truck in my driveway. Oh yeah, we were leaving Tampa for new surroundings in Asheville, North Carolina. After having spent twelve years in Florida, it was a big move. One precipitated by my husband asking the question, “What would we do if we weren’t afraid?”

For many people, going to a retreat with a bunch of strangers would be the last thing in the world they would want to do. But not for Ostomysecrets' Sarah Biggart! In October 2014, Sarah made the trip from her home state of California to Texas for a "Girls With Guts" retreat.

Since October 2008, I have written many stories for our Ostomy Secrets readers about my experience as a woman with an ostomy. I have shared thoughts and said words I would have never said publicly. I have written about explosive poop, swollen stomas, sewn up rectums and everything in between. Not gonna lie; it’s been pretty cool.
